3.- Nexen Tyres NZ History

Nexen Tires was created in 1942, the Nexen Tire Corporation has over 70 years of tradition as a leader in the tire industry. Originally founded as Heung-A Tire, Nexen was recognized as the first Korean tire company to start producing automobile tires in 1956. The company subsequently expanded its technology through an alliance with a Japanese manufacturer. called OHTSU Tire & Rubber.

After 77 years of experience in the tire industry, with the founding of Heung-A Tire Industry in 1942, Nexen Tire (its name since 2000) currently has four factories (two in Korea, one in China and one in China). the most recent opened in the Czech Republic) and four R&D centres, in Seoul (Korea), Kelkheim (Germany), Ohio (United States) and Quindao (China), plus “The Nexen university”, its central institute Research, based in the Korean capital, opened in April 2019.

Nexen Tire’s commercial activity is channelled through seven companies and 16 delegations throughout the world. The set goal is to achieve annual sales of close to 5,000 million dollars in 2025, which would mean multiplying its turnover by four in 2018. For this, its production capacity will be increased, from 43 million tires to 52 million in 2023.

In designing its strategy for the next few years, the European market is of vital importance for Nexen Tire. Hence the construction of its state-of-the-art factory in Zatec (Czech Republic) to produce a range that includes covers for passenger cars, SUVs and vans. With its strengthened manufacturing capacity, Nexen Tire’s objective is to continue to bring advanced technology products to the market, which will also help increase its market share in vehicle manufacturers’ first equipment.

The current product offering of the Korean brand includes the N’Fera Sport models (UHP segment), whose series will expand in 2020 with its SUV version, N’Fera Primus, N’Blue HD Plus and its all-season tire, the N’ Blue 4Season. Also, the Winguard Snow G3 and Winguard Sport 2 range, both winter covers, and the Roadian CT8, specific for vans.
